Join us for an evening exploring challenges and opportunities, now and in the future for LGBTQIA+ Australians.

In light of recent world events, it's a better time than ever to come together in solidarity to share knowledge, empathy and hope.

Each of our panellists are working to change the way Australians experience gender and sexuality for the better in a different field. Hear their perspectives and join the conversation during our Q & A session.

Jacob Thomas

Jacob is a 27-year-old, genderqueer person who, in 2016, was one of only two Australians to receive the Queen’s Young Leaders Award. Jacob sits as a founding member of the Commonwealth Youth Gender and Equality Network (CYGEN), and the UN Women’s Taskforce for Youth and Gender Equality.

Our Panellists

Ross Murray (US)

Ross is Director of Programs, Global and US South at GLAAD, where he amplifies the voices of LGBT-affirming communities and LGBT people of faith. He has secured national media interest in stories that bring examples of LGBT equality in faith communities to Americans. He has written for and appeared on CNN, the Washington Post and Huffington Post. He is also a founder and director of The Naming Project, a faith-based camp for LGBT youth and their allies.

Adolfo Aranjuez
Adolfo is the Editor of Metro, Australia’s oldest film and media periodical. He is also the subeditor of Screen Education magazine and a freelance writer, speaker and dancer. In 2015, Adolfo was named one of the Melbourne Writers Festival’s 30 Under 30. More about him at

Anna Brown
Anna is the Director of Advocacy at the HRLC where she has led the Centre’s work on LGBTI rights. Anna also chairs the Victorian Government’s LGBTI Taskforce Justice Working Group and the marriage equality campaign group - Australians For Equality and currently serves on the board of the Victorian Gay & Lesbian Rights Lobby.

Sally Goldner
Sally has nineteen years involvement in Victoria’s LGBTIQ communities and organisations including Transgender Victoria as Executive Director, co-facilitator of Transfamily, presenter of 3 CR’s “Out of the Pan” and Bisexual Alliance Victoria. She is a life member of 4 organisations, the 2015 LGBTI Victorian of the year and joined the Victorian Women’s Honour Roll in 2016.
